MEETING:  WEDNESDAY,  MARCH 27, 2019, 2:30 PM, at the Monmouth County Library, Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan,

TRY A NEW MEDIUM, WATERCOLOR:  We are continuing our series of meetings where members and friends are invited to experience working in different mediums. This meeting will be a watercolor workshop lead by local  artist and instructor, LESLIE DALEY. Bring watercolor paints, paper and brushes if you have them.  There will be some materials available for anyone who does not have their own. For beginning artists, there will be members available to help if needed. We will work for 1 hour and then view the results before ending the meeting.  No refreshments will be served.

*******PLEASE NOTE NEW MEETING TIME IS 2:30 P.M.*******  The Monmouth County Library provides meeting space as a community service.  The Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event, the speaker(s) or the organization. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Freehold Art Gallery: The current exhibit “Going Green” will be on display in the Central and Main Galleries through April 18, 2019.  Works of many of our FAS members are included in this exhibit. In the Lounge Gallery the photography of Mike Medeiros will be on exhibit.  On April 5 , 7 - 10 pm, a  reception and comedy show featuring Andrew Cenera and friends will benefit the National Alliance of Mental Illness, as will a portion of  the sales from the photography exhibit.  Call 732-531-5911 or 732-513-7248 for tickets, $30/seat or $10/no seat. Spring hours are Thurs. 5:30-7:30 p.m., Fri. 12 Noon-2 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m.  Sunday, 12 Noon-2 p.m.  ______________________________________________________________MEMBER NEWS: As part of their Open Art Show, Point Beach Arts is having a Gala Night in White at the White Sands Beachfront Resort and Spa Saturday, March 30, 7-9 p.m.  During the Gala, FAS member Carolyn Tischer Bartlett, will be demonstrating charcoal drawing and that piece will be donated for a Silent Auction at the end of the Gala.  For more information about entry into the art exhibit and the Gala, go to their website, PointBeachArts.com. ______________________________________________________________ Our next Board Meeting is Friday, March 15, 10 a.m. at the Park 9 Diner, Rt. 9 So.  at Adelphia Road, Freehold.   We are looking for a new Secretary.  This requires you to attend 6 Board Meetings during the year, keep notes of what is discussed, type up the minutes of the meeting and e-mail them to all Board members. Please join us on Friday the 15th if you would like to help in this way.  ________________________________________________________________

TRY A NEW MEDIUM, PASTEL:  We are going to begin a series of meetings where members and friends are invited to experience working in different mediums. This meeting will be a pastel workshop lead by pastel artist, Carolyn Tischer Bartlett. Bring pastels and paper, if you have them.  There will be some materials available for anyone who does not have their own. For beginning artists, there will be members available to help if needed. We will work for 1 hour and then view the results before ending the meeting

The prospectus for the next FPL exhibit is in this newsletter.  Please read it carefully, as some guidelines have changed. Linda Hart, the volunteer director of this show, also asks that you try to keep a record of the paintings you enter in these shows, as she regrets having to turn away anyone who brings a piece previously shown there. _______________________________________________________________


We are excited to announce that we will be having 3 “mini-art shows” at the Center Street Players Theater in Freehold this year.  The first exhibit will be in February in conjunction with the production of “Butterflies are Free”.  These will be limited to just a few members per show as the space is not large.  They will be themed shows, reflecting the mood/tone of the production.  If you are interested in participating, e-mail FAS for details.

Member, Linda Hart, had a painting juried into the Northeast Watercolor Society's International Show and also in the New Jersey Watercolor Society's Juried Show.

Member, Jane Gavaghen, has been juried in as an Exhibiting Member at the Guilld of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

WE HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!!!  Thanks to the great efforts of Board Member, JANE GAVAGHEN, the Freehold  Art Society now has a new, interactive website, where members can have their portfolio displayed (up to 6 pieces)..Please check us out at www.freeholdartsociety.wixsite.com/freeholdart
